Wicked Wake (WW) is a vehicle map, released right after the 2nd anniversary of Heroes. Prior to this, it was publically tested on the PTE from March 22 to very early May 2011.

WW Overview

Check out this tactical map to give a quick reference to the general area of a flag, where you were last, or where everyone should be next.

Unlike normal maps, Wicked Wake has 75 tickets per Factions rather than a mere 50. The reason are the 5 flags instead of 4. Thus, battles are longer and more drawn-out here than in other maps. Some people can find this game format very tedious.

Planning your next round? Organizing your clan strategy? Take a look the Conquest guide to ensure the control of the 5 capture points: Flagpoints:

  • Airfield
  • Northern Base
  • Northern Town
  • Southern Town
  • Beach

Due to the backbases being on separate islands, many planes are required to get troops safely onto the mainland. There are four runways on each backbase which continually spawn planes. The 'Airfield' flagpoint also hosts one plane and one helicopter spawn point. The three tanks on the map are located at Northern Town, Southern Town, and Airfield. Jeeps are available at all flagpoints.

The large size of the map and the abundance of planes, allows either faction to decimate the other team if they dominate "AirSpace". It is particularly hard to win, if the enemy has captured all the flags, as you will be frequent targets of enemy strafing runs or even "Dive Bombing".

Notable SpotsEdit

Sniper TowersEdit

The terrain is mainly at the same level, so the four sniper towers surrounding airfield are the best spots to keep overview. On the downside, these are highly obvious.

Airfield Vehicle SpawnsEdit

If a soldier has Blasting Strike, he can use it to blast enemy pilots into the sea, before they can man any aircraft, and most likely causing insta-death.

  • Wicked Wake is based off of the arguably most popular Battlefield series map, Wake Island.
  • Wicked Wake is the first map to have been already been given a name within the PTE that follows the released map name style. (Wicked Wake as to Alpine Assault, instead of wake to woodlands.)
  • Wicked Wake is the first map to largely include the ocean as a navigable area.
  • Wicked Wake is the first map to have "back" spawn bases detached from the mainland.
  • Wicked Wake is the first map to have enough planes for each faction (8 players) to fly without control over an alternate flag.
  • This map may force more players to learn how to use the plane as many don't quite know how to control a plane and usually end up crashing it, but at the same time it gives beginning pilots an opportunity to practice.
  • The map was released as part of the Summer of Heroes promotion.
  • The first PTE version had no palm trees, but oaks.
  • Prior to version 1.105, before helicopters were added, two planes would spawn at the airfield.
